The Fifth Plinth Project was an innovative practical studio workshop to investigate ideas of the monument in relation to accepted notions of the plinth. This week-long project explored a contemporary understanding of what this might be, employing a range of technical processes alongside both repurposed and traditional materials.
The Fifth Plinth Project, initiated and run by Artist and BA Fine Art Senior Lecturer Stephen Hughes, involved a group of students from the undergraduate course using the new Faculty Workshops and Big Build Studio and working with donated recycled material from Art Mover’s Martin Speed.
