Ed Mac is an artist whose work aims to challenge the notions of individuality and authorship while also expanding the concept of art in an age of social criticism through imagery and text. Subverting the line between Fine Art & Graphic Design.  By using the graphic knowledge to study the relationship between the pair. Exploring the cultural tropes and stereotypes of images, utilizing the skills to re-examine the compositions and repetitions within popular culture and media. Questioning his approach to social criticism in the work there became a shift in practice, some way, shape, or form. Making and presenting work through publications has become a means of finding connections with others whether through critique or conversation. Can they play a role in this connection? These publications are a combination of images, objects, thoughts, and writings as a strategy to bring people, ideas, and memories together. The intended participatory element can only exist in a space with forms of contact. Through responses, these works become a dialogue in the moment and past, forming perspectives in worlds through narrative and storytelling. The books become a bridge. The physical form of contact with books is a reminder of the linearity of time, the issues that are being tackled, the nostalgia that is being felt. They show what cannot be recaptured.

A series of zines that although vary in differences, all fall under the overarching umbrella of social commentary with a light-hearted approach and attempted humour. The study of our culture, institutes, and the media. It provides the audience a catalyst for conversation, connection, and understanding within our worlds.
