Stella Griffiths Lynch’s practice is focused on exploring painterly aesthetics that are entwined with the rising semi digital world most of us are subjected to in the modern day. Meticulous compositions are dissected and examined throughout the means of her practice, with likes to digital, geometrical and figurative forms that can be deceiving in nature. Aesthetical desires of modern-day values and interior design traits, with reflection of the ‘Instagram effect’ that requires filtering the way our lives are perceived through online platforms is often something she tends to explore and display in her practice. Not only does her work scrutinize the new world of perception through digital innovation, manipulation and painterly methods, she also takes great interest in creating an ironic type of realism, as well as humor within her paintings, as suggested through the titling.
The process of painting
Not only is it the notion of putting the brush to the canvas, my practice explores the initial idea to the finished piece. Modern day themes and issues are dissected though my own self photography which are then manipulated to create my own aesthetic, creating multiple possibilites.
