I have a rare genetic disorder called Hereditary Angioedema. I have a C1 inhibitor protein deficiency in my blood, causing me to experience recurrent inflammatory attacks. Ever since my first episode when I was 9 years old, I have experienced swelling in all parts of the body, each accompanied with different physical matters. Physical Matters I have adapted my life to. I have fallen into routines in order to accommodate my body to feel normal. I administer injections when attacks can become painful or life threatening.
My art represents elements of sensations and routines. How we adapt our lives around an illness to help us feel as normal as possible. How the human body reacts to its surroundings beyond our control. I want to share experiences I have been through and help others understand my condition through the sensations I have felt. Capturing elements of my health condition and the way I experience them and using these as a means for my artwork to progress. Ranging from installations and interactive works to painting.
