Lucy is an interdisciplinary designer and illustrator. Her practice is all about communicating ideas, using whichever materials and processes do it best. Her work is rooted in curiosity and research, and she endeavours to make it as fun and accessible as possible. Lucy always tries to be hands on, making tangible objects and experiences, as she finds interaction is often the best way to get people thinking and talking!
With a particular interest in books, Lucy explored the relationship between the content of a book and its cover in her dissertation ‘Picturing Fiction’. Outside of university, re-designing the covers for books she reads has become a long-term personal project. Lucy was a runner up in the Stratford Lit Fest Book Jacket Design competition in 2020.
“Driven by curiosity, and working in whatever medium best suits the message, my strengths as a designer lie in translating complex concepts into their simplest visual forms. I value tactility and interaction in my work, with a particular interest in print design and publishing.”
