The Biomaterials workshop project took place in second term with designers from Material Driven. It focuses on utilising food waste to create bioplastics, bio composites and natural dyes among others. In this project, we made orange peel composite, banana leather/plastic, coffee ground composites, algae and cornstarch bioplastic, gelatine foam, natural dyes from onion peels and avocado seeds and crystals, generated from salt. We also recycled plastic and learned how to make intricate moulds from packaging. We used these skills and the knowledge gained to experiment further; developing on materials that we used in our Major Projects.

BIOMATERIALS ARE THE FUTURE OF SUSTAINABLE INTERIOR AND PRODUCT DESIGN.
