Retail is not what it once was.

As the Highstreet continues to plummet in opposition to online commercialism, in order for brands to continue to move forward, they must remind us why we chose to buy into them. In the case of Rituals Cosmetics, the core values of ritual and mindfulness.

Proposed in this project, Rituals invites the people to reimagine the ritual of retail. With a firm grasp in circular economy, Ritual’s Brand Festival connects people to nature, in the heart of Shoreditch. Repurposing London’s fallen leaves into faux leather flooring panels that age as the space is used by the public, while translucent ceiling structures collect rainwater to fill gradually appearing ponds throughout the space.

The gradual appearance of the ponds, and the filling of the ponds with rainwater, creates an atmosphere and experience that will outlive the Highstreet.
