Weave-Cycle
Weave cycle is a service that up-cycles old clothing into rope which is then woven into furniture. While encouraging sustainability, Weave-cycle is about celebrating the memories behind pieces of clothing through our everyday furniture. Often, we accumulate clothing that we do not want to throw away due to meanings attached behind them such as a memory of a loved one or a memory from the past. We keep these items stored away out of our sight, but why not display these items in our everyday lives? The loom seat is a bench inspired by the structure of a traditional hand loom. Through the gaps, the handmade rope is woven through.
Fruit Plate
Fruit plate is a storage & display product that promotes healthy eating and minimises fruit waste. Fruit plate aims to solve the two key issues present in traditional fruit bowl designs which are lack of visibility and poor storage. The grooves on the fruit plate ensure that the fruit is placed apart to minimise touching and bruising. The plate cannot be over filled, tackling the issues of over buying fruit. The value of the fruit is elevated through height which also encourages fruit consumption. The materiality of cork is an important aspect of this design. Cork is a highly sustainable material as cork production is carbon negative. Cork absorbs excess moisture given off by ripening fruits keeping the fruit fresher for longer and also has a unique quality of repelling fruit flies.
