My name is Xianzhi Lin, I am a graphic designer and a student. This is my project during the course, and it is also the result of my study during this period. My design philosophy is to keep curious about the world and find the connections between things. To create interesting and meaningful design, so that design can help more people live a better life.

The “Sweet thing”  is an online soul music festival concept design, this concept is inspired by soul music, it as a rhythmic dance music, but also conveys a very relaxed and sweet emotion. My project concept is to help young people alleviate the anxiety and some bad emotions that the pandemic has caused them by delivering positive content about soul music. Because my target audience is mainly young people, soul music as an old music is difficult for young people to develop interest, so my project will focus on the visual and auditory expression of soul music, I hope to convey soul music through a new visual form, so that young people can be interested.

My other experimental design, called the Practical project. The project is an experimental pattern and font design, through the study and analysis of William Morris theory and patterns, and combined with my own experience and ideas for creative design. After the early research on Morris’s patterns, I will combine this symmetrical and repetitive design with the expression form of graffiti, so as to create a more harmonious and beautiful expression form of graffiti art. The final presentation form of the project is based on the pattern design. Through the design and development of the pattern, I try to break the traditional street graffiti. The final product will be presented in the form of graffiti in an attempt to simulate the display of these patterns in the public space of the city.

Most of my creations are inspired by my observations of life, and I like to discover the connections and commonality of different things. As my favorite expression, Graffiti has given me a lot of creative inspiration. So much so that I often incorporate Graffiti into my design projects.
