The theme of interstitial space is derived from architectural design. We all know that architecture and fashion are two industries that are always interrelated and influence each other. Their design concepts and approaches are similar and common. The concept of interstitial space is something I learned from reading Bradley Quinn’s book ‘Fashion in Architecture’. This prompted me to connect clothing, architecture and space through this concept.
The MA design concept from Japan serves as the theoretical basis for the design and guides the process from design concept to fabric experimentation to colour selection and 3D garment making. Finding and creating interstitial spaces between the human body and the garment. These concepts provided strong support for the development of the fashion field and allowed for the full completion of the menswear collection inspired by interstitial spaces.
