Zac Song is an illustrator animator who works across a range of traditional and digital mediums. His interests are in the visual development of world building through concept art and character design.

His film ‘Those were the days’ was intended to recreate a period of time, visually, during the Japanese Occupation from the recordings of a diary self-published by his grandmother. The film encompasses information stitched together through research from the Malayan archives as well as details from the generation that had lived during such a time. A moment in time that felt forgotten even in passages, the night before the Japanese invasion on the Straits of Malacca.

I’m a multidisciplinary artist from Malaysia. I engage mostly in making visual development and storyboards for animations. What motivates me is the exploration of conceptual world building, communicating the idea of the character through design and how certain spaces would be used through visuals.
