Rosie Anna Gate is a London based 2D Animator and Illustrator, whose practice is narrative driven. Inspired by the surreal and strange moments in everyday life, Rosie creates humorous illustrations and short films.

As a Digital Animator and Illustrator, she is inspired by the strange, surreal moments of everyday life, creating 2D animated films and installations. From an early age she was encouraged to ’embrace my inner queerness’, which Rosie thinks has become an apt manifesto for her creative practice. Rosie looks at the world with a childlike view, creativity and imagination, in an attempt to loosen boundaries, whether that be visually or structurally . As a creative, she tries to enter the weird and wonderful world perceived by children. By creating new, perplexing, humorous, exaggerated, and unconventional worlds, for a viewer’s childlike and adult subconscious alike to feast on.

Observation, memory, research and humour, are my main starting points for a project. I fabricate narratives, from personal experiences, and overheard conversations, objects and stories. I then expand on these initial ideas through sketches, pastel drawings, and scripts.
