I’m from China. Before taking the Graduate Diploma Illustration Course, I majored in Landscape Architecture at Hainan University.
I like to depict the landscapes, plants and animals of nature, especially the sea and marine life. Besides, mysterious, deep and unknown places have always fascinated me. I sincerely hope that my illustrations, like those mysterious and intriguing places, can arouse the audience’s imagination and desire to explore.
Children’s book illustrations are very attractive to me. I tend to paint my work in watercolor and also like to use colored paper to make 2D or 3D artworks. Usually, I prefer to use bright or contrasting colors to express my emotions.
In my view, good documentary films, picture books, architecture and other works of art are a source of inspiration and ideas. I also go into nature to take photos and sketch, looking for unusual and interesting angles from familiar scenes.
I am inspired a lot by the charming contemporary illustrations of Malika Favre. The dynamic smooth line and intriguing color scheme in her artworks impress me most. Christian Birmingham is also one of my favorite artists. His illustrations are delicate and tender, which perfectly convey the atmosphere and emotions of the characters in fairy tales.
I hope my illustrations can take you to a place of peace and mystery.
