Hi. I am Priyanka Rao, a fashion design graduate from the Indian Institute of Art and Design, New Delhi. Before embarking on this journey of fashion, I was a restrictive individual; someone who used to dwell in a cocoon.

To begin with, the journey of fashion wasn’t  a piece of cake.  It was a process of discovering myself, churning my thought process and adapting through challenges that helped me open up in a lot of circumstances. Slowly, fashion became a voice, a way of expressing, a way of communicating through various measures. These past few years have made me realise that there are so many different ways to express without even composing a single word. The tiny artist in me has been adapting the expression of manifestation for quite some time now. Creativity for me is not just creating art, it is a way of demonstrating real-life incidents. I thrive on representing true scenarios through my work that is connected to an emotion.

My projects are a mixture of real-life events that try to communicate a statement through art and design. The recent project I did was about a cluster of emotions that was inspired by my existence. I replicated the emotions into my artwork and garments to represent the story of reality through discarded materials, which helped me to think beyond clothing.

“Design has the voice of expression which can lead any silent personality to communicate in one of the strongest ways”
