Oda Aurora Norlund is a Kingston School of Art graduate, originally from Norway. Her work is a wide arrange of 2D animation, illustration and crafts such as ceramics and print. Through her animations she enjoys exploring simple storytelling with colourful and detailed imagery. Recently she has explored animation outside of the screen with a deck of cards with flowers that animate when flipped through, as well as a ceramic bowl with illustrations along the sides that tell of the making of a bowl and a wooden spoon when spun around. Botanical illustrations, fish, and the simple joy of sunshine is a common theme in Oda’s work. However, through the themes, there is an underlying message of the importance of health and connecting with nature. Her graduation film, Contains Seaweed, is about the simple act of taking a break once in a while.

Through animation, I wish to explore simple moments of life and illustrate them through colours and motion. Ceramics and prints are new ways of better connecting with crafts personally, and I find joy in combining them with animation.
