Megan Willett is an image-maker, animator and designer based in London. As a curious creative, Megan utilises research and storytelling to communicate the complex. People are at the heart of her work. By creating work inspired by personal narratives, Megan hopes to inspire positive change and raise awareness.
Megan’s work takes many forms. She makes animations, illustrations, educational products and interactive experiences. In her collection of work, you will discover an animation exploring the secrecy of the menopause and an interactive game, designed to give the diverse community of Deptford their say in The Albany Theatre’s fourth regeneration. The goal is always to educate and connect people through materiality and play. So far, Megan has created work for Penguin Books, The Old Vic Theatre, Tom Rosenthal and The Albany Theatre. She has also worked in collaboration with two, not for profit organisations, Menopause Support and Carers Trust.
Recently, in collaboration with UK based charity Carers Trust, Megan created ‘Only Human’, a heartfelt digital animation exploring what it means to be a young carer. Over 6.5 million people in the UK provide unpaid care for an ill, older or disabled family member or friend. Megan took inspiration from carers personal stories to create her films audio and visuals. Passionate to learn from others and explore the unfamiliar, Megan always remains open-minded and ready for any new challenge that awaits her.
Megan is one half of the designing duo, The Knot, a multidisciplinary design studio founded by herself and Josephine Owen. These two individuals join forces to untangle complex problems in the world.
