Using nature to control smart homes—Tide Lamp
Technology is disconnecting people from nature. This project attempts create evolving atmospheres that make humans more aware of nature by integrating natural cycles into contemporary design objects and spaces. This is made possible by using real-time data from nature to control the objects we live with.
The tide lamp is synchronised live with the tide of your choice. It creates a moving tide of light that washes up and down your room with the ocean. Because users can select the specific tide location they want, from anywhere in the world, it can create nostalgic connections between a person and a brand new object, prolonging the time they keep it for.
