Maha Shami is an artist and communicator with interests in identity, escapism, and nature. She is excited about using colour, mixed media and movement to tell stories. Within her work Maha has explored how Art Therapy can be used to elicit processes of change, development, and acceptance to treat anxiety and PTSD. She has also used animation, collage, and textile pieces to engage with exploring experiences in her mothers home country, Bahrain.
I have explored a series of Bahraini folk tales about lizards or wazagh; playing with how scale, colour and composition can depict narrative. Specifically, the relationship my family have to the wazagh and the various versions of the story I have heard throughout the years.
