The organisation of a school as a series of walled gardens.

These gardens are used for meeting growing, playing and learning re-wilding and increasing biodiversity.  This proposal is an extension and addition to an existing school in Newham, East London.  As well as gardens, a new foyer for the school is proposed as well as a market hall that is a versatile community space that reconnects the school to the surrounding area.

The market hall is a stone and timber structure with a civic quality with a public offering of a water feature and places to sit.  It also reminds one of gate houses but also harks back to the terraces that would have been on the site before the east end slum clearances.

The journey from street into the school is a civic ensemble of spaces with the market hall on the left and a cloistered orchard on the right. While directly ahead is the the entrance to the foyer.
