Karolina Kovacs is a London-based Hungarian filmmaker with a particular focus on producing, writing and cinematography. Her work explores aspects of her own identity as well as things she’s passionate about. Karolina loves to use different art forms to express her thoughts and perceptions of the world around her, mainly through moving image and poetry. She’s always struggled with fitting in and so uses her work as a vessel to express her feelings and experiences, hoping that it will make someone feel less alone with any struggles in their own lives.
Karolina’s latest film, Pitypangok és Cseresznyefák, or Of Cherry Trees and Dandelions, is a nostalgic film about her own experiences growing up in Hungary and how she had formed her love for nature thanks to her grandfather and mother. The film incorporates old photos, rotoscope animation, archive footage, a rich soundscape as well as her voice guiding us through the visuals.
