Reclaiming Essex narratives through crafted archetypes which represent the effects of gender, class and taste. This piece of work celebrates the negative associations of Essex as well as expanding the consciousness of these perceptions. Welcome to the distorted, whimsical, and queer world of Essex.
My work is often highly social and political I like looking at the impacts of class, gender, sexuality and taste. I am often inspired by performance and I enjoy performative pieces that interact with the wearer and the observer.
The embodiment of a garment is where I find most satisfaction, creating a fantasy within my work is integral, and seeing the direct effect of garments and how they can make people feel when they are wearing or seeing them.
Subverting, Questioning and Translating preconceptions in order to shape a better future is at the core of what I do. I like to explore fluidity and queerness within my work as well as themes of power and reclamation. The translation of themes into materiality, shape ,form ,colour and texture is something which I thoroughly enjoy as I like actualizing my ideas and thoughts into something tangible with a narrative.
