The aim of this research report is to analyze Jacques La can (French psychoanalyst and psychiatrist)’s mirror stage theory (1949) that emerged from Egon Schiele(Austrian Expressionist painterYs self-portrait and to the representation of said ideology within women’s fashion design. The research project examines the notion as set forth in a statement of self-awareness and Self-division in mirroring as presented in Lacan’s statement. The whole research process helped me into the integration deeper of mirror stage with womenswear design, including the silhouette of fabrics and garments.

Mirrors act as an important invisible medium in Schiele’s paintings. Most of his paintings are done by observing the mirror image.
