My work examines the relationship between people and architectural spaces, looking at the rituals and routines surrounding them. Often intimate and autobiographical it reflects on my own memories and experiences and aims to create a visual and physical aid in understanding the mind.
As both a female and Welsh Artist, I often find myself drawn to the relationship between people and belonging to a location or place such as ‘home’. Longing for my own home and culture, I’ve begun to capture what may seem mundane routines but are rituals played out globally.
“I want to take a break from the fractious public square of photography and wander quietly into people’s homes. Behind these doors I hope to find a sliver of solace in these unstable times.” – Photographer Alec Soth
