Celebrating the individuality of each man in the ‘Jadestar’ crew, I found the men to be displeased, forgotten and disposable within the fishing trade. I soon realised the boats were more cared for than the men, so I took safety functions from these trawler boats, and incorporated them into my designs, to ensure the fishermen’s needs are met.

‘Mothers of the Deep Sea,’ explores the harsh reality of the role as a fisherman. Through my intensive first hand research, I created bonds with some of the crew, their troubles of feeling uncared for were heard.
