Exhibited are different frames, moments and records of process from my animation ‘Untitled Outcomes’ which is part of a response to a recent major project. This project utilized not having a direct path in terms of narrative or planning, but rather focused on planning what processes of making I would explore and make with. My dissertation research became the catalyst for making. This looked at the themes, questions and interpretations that I explored in relation to the Japanese concept of Ma. Ma translates to a ‘pause, gap, separation’ or as Claude Debussy puts it ‘It is the silence between the notes that make music’. I wanted to react to these themes through making, considering pausing from making as a part of the process, and considering how the outcome of making or pausing would communicate in relation to each other. These ‘Outcomes’ to reactive making evolved into sequences for an experimental animation. I wanted to acknowledge the potential connections and also differences between the placement of the sequences within a single animation. This became ‘Untitled Outcomes’ as one of three films within my ‘Reactive Trilogy’.

I’m a London based multidisciplinary creative. I enjoy making things in a wide variety of ways, my focus being an experimental approach that considers reactive making and process led projects. This has generated new ways of producing experimental animations and various forms of static imagery.
