‘Despite the dire financial environment of the 1930’s… Many view the 1930’s – as the period in which truly modern clothing was created.’ Bruce Boyer and Patricia Mears – Elegance in an Age of Crisis, p. 1

My graduate collection ‘Elegance in an Age of Crisis; draws parallels between the impact of the 2020 global ‘Coronavirus’ pandemic on the Fashion industry, to the impact on Fashion of the Great Depression of the 1930’s – which is credited by the above authors, as prompting the birth of modern fashion.  Reimagining 1930’s elegance and glamour into the 2020’s has been key to the development of my collection, which also explores shapes found within the 1930’s Art Deco movement translated into Knitwear designs.
