IRIDIUM is a ready-to-wear designer brand founded by Dingyi Xu after graduating from Fashion Design at Kingston University. The brand seeks to innovate clothing structure in a new way and reinterpret womenswear design through deconstruction. Brands dare to challenge the definition of beauty and gender and express new artistic attitudes through the collection. Geometric aesthetics and cubism deeply influence the brand.
A design full of power and romance is the symbol of IRIDIUM, designed for strong, personalized women who understand their inner self.
IRIDIUM’s Spring/Summer 2021 collection is inspired by the golden ratio. The golden ratio is one of the definitions of beauty. From another perspective, it is also a stereotype of beauty. So I further questioned whether this formula from mathematics could define the beauty of structure and proportion.
The stereotype of beauty reminds me of people’s stereotype of women. The stereotype of women in society has existed for a long time. Although the feminist movement made women’s roles evolve in society, the stereotype of women in society still exists. So I combine these two fields, focus on breaking the gender stereotype and innovating womenswear structure through the golden ratio.
