My work explores female sexuality and the sexualisation of women. Choosing rug making as a process to reflect the long and laborious task of dealing with the taboo of female sexuality and the burden of female sexualisation and the male gaze under the patriarchy. Repurposing images from vintage porn and turning them into objects, reflecting the objectification of women, and bringing it into everyday, homely items to tackle the taboo of women reclaiming their sexuality and being shamed by society for expressing it. Being sexual doesn’t mean you should be sexualised. (Also rug is a pun for fanny hair)
