Located in the heart of London, the project started with the question ‘How can a housing project provide both privacy for comfort and conviviality to socialise at the same time?’ The main theme of my project is to enforce the idea of creating a sociable tectonic, relating to the contribution of the sense of community. The whole complex aims to create a ‘big family’ experience. This is because the area of ‘Custom House’ in Newham, as a whole feels dispersed. There is no sense of community as observed at the site; therefore, the aim is to design a place that uplifts the area with facilities for children, adults and all the residents to enjoy together through various thresholds and community gardens. The unused/abandoned area on site is an advantage as it will accommodate all the essential elements needed to create an inviting garden space for everyone.
