The Postal Residency was a collective made up of the members Hena Ahmed, Chelsea Dea, Jennifer Di Costanzo, Courtney Gregory, Husna Memon and Isabelle Taylor. We are a Fine Art and Art History collective who, during the period of our ‘residency’ wrote and read letters in an attempt to connect to each other personally in an analogue format. This project was an experiment into communication and the interaction between the personal and the professional life.

The outcomes of the residency were, first: a collection of letters written by each of the members and curated together to trace the time spent on the project. Second: a house built out of shoe boxes, each representing a bedroom made by each artist. And, finally: a film that presents the recordings of the artists reading their letters, interacting with the cardboard house. The outcomes of this project then being shared with an audience further the connections we make. The audience will know us, as people, as well as artists.

“As I write this I look out of the window occasionally and see an aeroplane fly by. I am reminded that all things pass.” Jennifer Di Costanzo, 2020.
