The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in schools shutting down all across the world. Over 1.2 billion students globally have been affected. As a result, education has changed dramatically, with the distinctive rise of e-learning, whereby teaching is undertaken remotely and on digital platforms. Research suggests that online learning has been shown to increase retention of information, and take less time, meaning the changes coronavirus have caused might be here to stay. This is why our team created this website with the inspiration of educating the masses through Kingston Hub during this global pandemic. We are passionate about helping students all across the country and globally access and receive the education that they deserve through e-learning services such as Educating You.

’Educating You’ is a learning website for students designed to be a user-friendly, accessible and easy to navigate by all ages, allowing the user to access educational resources created by the Kingston students.

Educating you is a learning website for students. The website includes learning resources from games to quizzes. Parents are also able to access PowerPoint presentations to PDF files and Word documents of different topics from history to geography and it is all downloadable for free for online and offline use. Our website is designed to be user-friendly and easy to navigate around as the layout is simplified. So, all viewers of the website will not have any trouble navigating their way around.

For the design of the site, we went with a white background with lava-coloured text boxes. The two colours really go together well and make it more attractive and approachable for the consumers. The font chosen for the site is “Verdana” because this is easier for all viewers to read, as well as it stands out well. We wanted the layout of the site to be simple, straightforward, and easy to read. Having all the information accessible on every page of our site makes it easier to use.

Even with the current global situation, we, the students, with our continued efforts, continuing progressing in our learning and managed to create an easy to navigate website. Making sure the website was accessible to everyone was our biggest priority and we felt we have accomplished our goal.
